ABOUT

This series is a socio-economic exploration of the historic Bangladeshi community in the heart of East London, Banglatown. The looming financial centers and young urban expansion caused by the neighboring City of London, Brick Lane, and Shoreditch have faced Banglatown with gentrification and displacement. This community has previously endured decades of socio-economic strife, as well as harsh racial violence. These images seek to capture the social and economic issues within Banglatown, as well as the unique juxtaposition between the contemporary British cultural hegemony and the importance of the predominantly Muslim, immigrant community living here.
